Woodland Pastoral Charge was established as part of the United Church of Canada's network of pastoral charges in Alberta. The church was founded to serve the spiritual needs of the growing Whitecourt community, bringing together faithful individuals who sought a place of worship and fellowship in the heart of northern Alberta's woodland region.
As Whitecourt grew as a forestry and oil & gas hub, so did our congregation. The church became a cornerstone of the community, providing not just spiritual guidance but also serving as a gathering place for community events, support groups, and celebrations. Our physical home at 5201 50 St became a beacon of hope and fellowship for the entire region.
Recognizing the importance of investing in the next generation, we developed comprehensive youth educational programs and community outreach initiatives. These programs have since become a hallmark of our ministry, helping young people discover their potential and develop leadership skills while strengthening our bonds with the wider community.
Today, Woodland Pastoral Charge continues to serve the Whitecourt area as an open, affirming, and inclusive congregation. We welcome people of all backgrounds, orientations, and circumstances.
